Představuje základní systém voleb a některá jeho specifika, například problémy s identifikací voličů, používání symbolů politických stran kvůli negramotným voličům či vyhrazená místa pro zaostalé komunity. Všímá si role Volební komise, zejména pak jejích snah učinit volby bezpečnější a transparentnější s ohledem na rostoucí kriminalizaci indické politiky. Přestavuje také volby na lokální úrovni včetně pozice žen v orgánech místní samosprávy. Description in English The article deals with elections in India. It tries to outline the system of elections and the gradual changes and reforms of it. Besides the basic system it pays attention to various specific features of elections in India including the identification of voters, symbols of political parties for illiterate voters or reservation for backward communities. It takes notice of the role of the Election commission and its efforts to make the elections more transparent and safe for all voters in connection with gradual criminalization of the Indian politics. One part of the article deals with elections to the local bodies of government and the position of women in them.
