AnnotationWe detected a peak with UV-spectrum and retention time resembling microcystin-RR in HPLC-DAD chromatogram of extract of laboratory cultured cyanobacterium Anabaena flos-aquae CCAP 1403/13B. Concentration of this compound in cyanobacterial biomass was 11 mug/g DW. This study confirmed Anabaena flos-aquae to be potential producer of toxic microcystins in freshwater ecosystems.
