Stone loach from the Danube basin exhibited extensive phylogenetic differentiation indicated by five highly divergent mtDNA lineages with a pre-Pleistocene origin. We relate the evolution and dispersal of this lineages with the evolution of the Danube river system and the Carpathian Mountains.

Slíž severný z povodia Dunaja vykazuje veľkú fylogenetickú diferenciáciu, o čom svedčí prítomnosť piatich vysoko divergovaných mitochondriálnych línií pre-pleistocénneho pôvodu. Evolúciu a rozšírenie týchto línií spájame s vývojom Dunajského riečneho systému a Karpatského oblúka.
