    Two high-resolution neutron diffractomers dedicated to strain/stress investigations in polycrystalline materials are routinely operated at the medium-power reactor LVR-15 in Řež and are also opened for external users. Good luminosity of the diffractometers and a sufficiently high-resolution (FWHM of the instrumental d/d-profile can be lessthan 1x10.sub.-3 at d.sup.hkl=0.2nm) permit investigationsof both the macro- and microstrains in the sample gauge volumes of several cubic milimetres. Excellent properties and abilities of the neutron diffraction strain scanners aredocumented by some results of experimental measurements.
