    The paper presents PCG optical fibers with cores composed of highly doped silica with step-index as well as inverted-graded refractive-index profiles tailored in the region of refractive indexes above that of silica and PCG fibers drawn from performs of optical glass. It is shown that the proposed approach makes possible to tailor the fiber sensitivity if the cladding refractive index is in a range from 1.46 to 1.62.
