Elevated blod pressure (BP) of hypertensive rats can be reduced either by the inhibition of calcium influx with nifedipine or by the inactivation of inhibitory G proteins with pertussis toxin (PTX).In our study BP reduction after PTX injection was accompanied by impaired norepinephrine-induced contraction only in femoral arteries from WKY. On the contrary, nifedipine inhibited norepinephrine-induced contractions not only in control WKY and SHR but also in PTX-treated SHR
