The article deals in detail with potash (potassium carbonate, K2CO3) production in Bohemia and Moravia in the 18th and 19th century taking account of previous and later developments. The branch is considered to be a part of a wider group of so called forest industries among which potash making played the most important role in the pre-industrial forest exploitation strategies in the early-modern Central Europe. Subsequently economic, environmental and technological features of the potash production are thoroughly described and analysed. The focus to the foreign trade with potash, state management of the industry, local and regional specific, terminology as well as to the ethnical conflicts related is taken too

Studie pojednávající o výrobě potaše (uhličitan draselný, K2CO3) v Čechách a na Moravě v 18. a 19. století s výhledy do doby předchozí i následné. Odvětví je chápáno jako součást širší skupiny tzv. lesních řemesel, přičemž draslářství je považováno za odvětví, které měla nejzásadnější dopad na stav středoevropských lesů ze všech předindustriálních výrobních oborů. V interdisciplinárně pojatém příspěvku jsou dále rozebrány ekonomické, ekologické a technologické aspekty výroby. Pozornost je věnována též otázkám zahraničního obchodu, státní regulaci výroby, regionálním specifikům oboru, vztahu lesnictví a draslářství, dobové terminologii i charakteristické etnické vyhraněnosti oboru
