The aim of the workshop was to introduce the emerging phenomenon of climate-washing, how it is considered under European legislative instruments, and what are legal trends in greenwashing climate change lawsuits. The workshop focused on the following key topics: climate neutrality pledges, protection against misleading practices (product labelling), corporate climate accountability, development financing, greenwashing under the EU Taxonomy Regulation and greenwashing climate change lawsuits. My contribution dealt with the concept of corporate responsibility with respect to climate, specifically the climate transition plans that certain companies would be required to prepare under the proposal for an EU Directive on Corporate Sustainability Due Diligence, including the coherence of the proposed regulation with existing duties under the Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive.
