Ve své první části rozebírá zákonné normy vztahující se k cenzuře obrazových materiálů. Z let 1822–1831 jsou zachovány tzv. cenzurní deníky Hieronyma Josepha Zeidlera, který prováděl cenzuru náboženských spisů včetně obrazových materiálů. Jejich analýza podaná ve druhé části studie ukazuje, že cenzurní připomínky se týkaly ikonografické a dogmatické správnosti vyobrazení a doprovodných textů. Cenzor ovšem dbal i na jazykovou a pravopisnou úroveň textů. Úkolem cenzury bylo dohlížet na to, aby svaté obrázky u svých adresátů vzbuzovaly „patřičnou“ reakci, tedy „zbožné city“. Postihována byly proto taková díla, která tomuto zamýšlenému účelu nedostávala, ať už vzhledem k nedostatečné výtvarné kvalitě vyobrazení, anebo kvůli nežádoucím erotickým náznakům. Description in English The study concerns the legislation and practice of the censorship of holy cards in Bohemia, especially in the first half of the 19th century. The first part analyses legal standards related to the censorship of picture materials. The censorship diaries of Hieronymus Joseph Zeidler have remained from 1822–1831, he enforced the censorship of religious documents including picture materials. Their analysis which is submitted in the second part of the study shows that censorship comments were related to iconographic and dogmatic correctness of the depiction and accompanying texts. However, a censor also paid attention to language and the spelling level of the texts. Documents which did not meet such a purpose were sanctioned either for their insufficient artistic quality of the depiction or because of undesirable erotic allusions.
