AnnotationThis popular scientific and richly illustrated book invites the reader on an imaginary journey to the period of the ancient Roman Empire. At the beginning of this journey are the archaeological traces of the Roman legions on our territory and the research results of generations of researchers from the Brno Archaeological Institute. The focus is on the exceptional location of Hradisko near Mušov, the most authentic Roman site in the Czech Republic, and its exceptionally representative archaeological findings. Attractive photographs and accompanying texts provide an insight into the activities of the Roman legions in southern Moravia, presenting their equipment, weapons, and everyday objects. The publication gives a vivid picture of an era in our region that, although short, was of extraordinary historical significance. The book complements and develops the existing popularisation platforms of the Academy of Sciences, especially the Visitor Centre Mušov – Gateway to the Roman Empire, and can be considered a practical guide to the exhibition there.
