A "surface-like" dielectric barrier discharge was designed to create a bent plasma structure in close proximity to the glass surface, potentially reducing the accumulation and deposition of analyte on the wall. This design was validated through temporally and spatially resolved OES. Spatially resolved densities of He metastables were measured by tunable diode laser absorption spectroscopy being in the order of 4.5 × 10E+10 cm−3, and the density profile correlated with the bent structure observed in the emission measurements.
