The high pressure forming at 300 MPa and room temperature was applied before firing of pure lithium fluoride powder. This material has very low sintering temperature, only about one half of typical oxide-ceramic dielectrics. Despite this fact, the resulting fired bulk was tested as dielectrics and showed very interesting characteristics. The best sample, fired at 750 degrees C and for 8 hours, had relative permittivity 12.1 and loss tangent 0.0006, frequency- and temperature-independent up to at least 150 degrees C. These parameters are comparable with oxide ceramics, fired at temperatures over 1500 degrees C, as for example alumina or YAG.
