During the X-ray computed tomography, the object is placed on a precise rotational platform. If a high resolution of the resultant model is required, the sample must be small enough and it must be placed close to the radiation source (in units of mm). For the adjustment of the sample position, precise stages with micrometric xy positioning are used. Manual adjustment of the micrometric displacements when preparing the tomographic scanning is an uncomfortable and time-confuming task. It is much more convenient when the movement of the micrometric axes is motorized. A simple instrumentation was developed and realized with the most of pieces fabricated in a 3D printer, allowing to connect two small step motors to a micrometric stage and control them from a PC using a USB connection. The two motors are controlled by a microcontroller, which supports a command set based on characters sent via the USB. ToraDjust Controller is an application with a dedicated GUI for controlling the positioner. The software was developed and tested in Python 3.8 and requires PyQt5 package.
