V monografii 25 odborníků je popsán vývoj lesa v České republice od konce doby ledové až do dneška a to včetně dalšího možného vývoje. Jednotlivé kapitoly jsou věnovány základním typům porostů, ale i technickým disciplínám, lesnímu právu a estetice a etice lesa. Jako nejlepší model pro budoucnost se jeví běžný smíšený, věkově rozrůzněný les.

The monograph of 25 experts describes the development of the forest in the Czech Republic from the end of the Ice Age to the present day, including further possible development. Individual chapters are devoted to the basic type of biotopes, but also to technical disciplines, forest law, aesthetics and ethics of the forest. The best model for the future seems to be a common mixed, age-diverse forest.
