Dobový význam tohoto mocenského centra zaznamenalo skrovné písemnictví 10. až 11. století. Zásadní poznatky přinesl teprve systematický archeologický výzkum prováděný v letech 1972-1990 Archeologickým ústavem ČSAV v Praze. Archeologické nálezy v propojení s písemnými zprávami osvětlily počátky budečského hradiště, provázané se vzestupem prvních Přemyslovců. Description in English The central Bohemian hillfort Budeč (Kladno district, locality Kováry) is one of the foremost localities historically connected to the period of rule of the first Přemyslids. Any substantive information on this power centre, whose contemporary importance was noted even in the sparse writings of the 10th and 11th centuries, comes from the extensive archaeological research undertaken in 1972-1990 by the Institute of Archaeology of the Czechoslovak Academy of Sciences in Prague. The combination of archaeological findings with the written sources provided insights into the beginnings of Budeč hillfort, intertwined with the rise of the first Přemyslids.
