Období těžby černého uhlí se definitivně chýlí ke konci. Krajina ostravsko-karvinské uhelné pánve hledá cesty pro nové využití. Poddolování s sebou ale do budoucna nese potenciální riziko v podobě nových pohybů povrchu země, například poklesů nebo záchvěvů povrchu. Regenerace poddolovaného území, včetně uvažovaného zatápění dolů a vytvoření rozsáhlých obytných, rekreačních a také průmyslových zón, proto musí následovat až po pečlivém a zodpovědném vymezení všech georizik. To by mělo být regionální prioritou i zájmem státu jako celku.

The coal mining season is finally coming to an end. The landscape of the Ostrava-Karvinsk coal basin is finding ways for new uses. But undermining carries potential risks in the future in the form of new ground movements, such as drops or surface tremors. The regeneration of the undermined area, including the contemplated sinking of mines and the creation of large residential, recreational and also industrial zones, must therefore follow only after a careful and responsible definition of all geo-hazards. This should be a regional priority as well as an interest for the state as a whole.
