Description in English The study is focused on The play Two on horseback, one on a donkey (Dva na koni, jeden na oslu, 1971), which belongs among the most significant dramatic works that appeared in Czech theatre after the arrival of Warsaw Pact Forces in August 1968. The central theme of the play which takes place against a 15th century historical backdrop is the individual‘s moral responsibility for their actions. It casts a sceptical eye on the “fairness of history” within the framework of what was then officially approved art and proposes a basic moral dilemma in the relationship between an individual and authority.
