AnnotationThe generation of animal model systems to study protein function or to mimic human genetic diseases is a valuable tool in biomedical research. Using traditional methods for the model generation requires expensive equipment and is time consuming. Recently, the CRISPR/Cas technology not only improved the efficiency of genomic manipulations, it also opened up new ways for the delivery of the reagents to the cells. In this book chapter we describe the iGONAD method allowing targeted mouse model production applicable for a wide range of research labs to introduce the desired genomic modifications without the need of special equipment.
