The clay minerals are commonly used materials in pharmaceutical field both as inorganic excipients or active agents, because they may undergo ion exchange reaction with functional antimicrobial molecules via intercalation process. The aim of this study was to prepare new antimicrobial low density polyethylene (LDPE) nanocomposites when antimicrobial vermiculite (V) –ciclopiroxolamine (CPA) was used as nanofiller. CPA is a broad-spectrum antifungal agent with additional antibacterial and anti-inflammatory activities. Primarily, antimicrobial properties of prepared nanocomposites were tested against Candida albicans.
