AnnotationIn reservoirs supplying drinking water treatment plants, seasonally occurring high concentrations of AOM may affect the performance of treatment processes, mainly the coagulation efficiency. Numerous studies have showed that coagulation of algal and cyanobacterial cells can be improved by pre-oxidants addition. Thus, the aim of this study was to investigate the influence of potassium permanganate pre-oxidation on coagulation of AOM (specifically its cellular peptides/proteins - COM peptide/protein fraction) produced by cyanobacterium Microcystis aeruginosa. The results showed that pre-oxidation with potassium permanganate increased the coagulation efficiency of COM peptides/proteins of Microcystis aeruginosa with iron coagulant and decreased the optimal dose of the coagulant.
