AnnotationWe are pleased to introduce this special issue of Plasma Processes and Polymers devoted to the subject of plasma interacting with liquids. Within the last 30 years, the subject of contacting a plasma with a liquid phase has grown considerably, and these developments have been motivated by both fundamental interest and an increasing number ofapplications in biomedicine, chemistry and chemical engineering, electrical engineering and power transmission, pollution control in environmental engineering, materials synthesis including polymer treatment and nanoparticle formation, as well as other areas in energy and agriculture. Several reviews on these subjects are available in the literature, including a most recent Plasma Roadmap, and we expect the 10 papers in this special issue to contribute to the growing body of research in this field.
