Moreover, the periodic structure forces light to radiate into air under defined angles. The emission into near-normal direction is of special interest from the application point of view. The effectivity of light extraction depends on various factors e.g. refractive index contrast, lattice type, or physical dimensions of PhC. Diamond PhCs are highly interesting because they may be used for enhanced extraction efficiency of PL from diamond waveguides, light emitting diodes or diamond color centers. In this study, we compare the optical properties, particularly the light extraction efficiency into near-normal direction, of NCD PhC slabs with square lattice. The PhC structures with various physical properties were designed by computer model. However, the real structures differ in material and structural properties.
