V tomto textu se zabýváme tím, co to ten smysl je a jak ho můžeme hledat. Za pomocí teorií filosofů Willarda Van Orman Quina, Donalda Davidsona a Willfrida Sellarse se dopracováváme k závěru, že smysl není žádná esoterická substance, kterou by lidské chování bylo nebo nebylo prosyceno a kterou by měl interpret objevit, že smysluplnost je zapojení do našich lidských do budoucnosti směřujících projektů, v jejichž kontextu jsou pro nás činy interpretovaných lidí srozumitelné. Konstatujeme, že jedna z podstatných schopností nás lidí (schopností, kterou se lišíme od ostatních živočichů a možná nejpodstatnější schopnost, kterou se od nich odlišujeme), je naše schopnost dělat komplexní plány, sestavovat projekty a ustanovovat instituce, které jsou zhmotněními těchto projektů, a že interpretace a hledání smyslu je třeba chápat jako úsilí o zasazování lidských činů právě do rámců takových plánů, projektů a institucí. Description in English We only can describe or explain most of the items of our world, but we can interpret the behavior of people (and some of its products), we can try to look for its meaning. In this text we consider the questions what this meaning is and how we can look for it. With the help of the theories of the philosophers Willard Van Orman Quine, Donald Davidson, and Willfrid Sellars we work our way towards the conclusion that the meaning is not an esoteric substance, which would infuse human behavior (or, as the case may be, fail to do so) and which the interpret should discover, that meaningfulness is the engagement within our human, forward-heading projects, in the context of which we find the deeds of others intelligible. We state that one of the crucial abilities of us humans (an ability which differentiates us from other animals, and perhaps the one which is the most distinctive of us), is our ability to make complex plans, to put together projects and to establish institutions, which are the materializations of such projects, and that interpretation and looking for meaning must be understood as an effort aiming at embedding human deeds into frameworks of such plans, projects and institutions.
