Ačkoli je u nás genderový výzkum často vnímán jako import ideologie z USA, případně z Bruselu, je z výzkumů, které probíhají už několik desítek let, zřejmé, že genderová dimenze je pro porozumění sociální realitě a pro veřejné politiky naprosto klíčová. V České republice ale tyto výzkumy často ignorujeme, a to jak ve veřejné diskuzi, tak do značné míry v akademické obci. Přitom přínosné a důležité výzkumy se dělají i u nás. O co přicházíme jako společnost, když náš zrak zastiňuje genderová slepota? Přijďte diskutovat s vědkyněmi na poli genderových a feministických studií o tom, proč se genderovému výzkumu daří lépe v zahraničí, co nám genderové brýle umožňují vidět a o co v důsledku přichází česká veřejná politika i společnost jako celek.

Although gender research is often perceived as the import of ideology from the US or from Brussels, it is clear from research that has been going on for decades that the gender dimension is absolutely crucial to understanding social reality and public policies. In the Czech Republic, however, we often ignore this research, both in public debates and to a large extent in the academic community. At the same time, beneficial and important research is being done in the country. What do we lose as a society when our vision is obscured by gender blindness? The public debate was organized as part of the Science and Technology Week, with Gender and Feminist Studies researchers about why gender research is doing better abroad, what gender lenses allow us to see and what Czech public policy and society as a whole lose as a result.
