Nízkoteplotní plazma je ionizovaný plyn generovaný v elektrickém výboji, který vzniká za běžného tlaku a teploty okolí. Nízkoteplotní plazma má prokázané nespecifické antibakteriální, antifundální a virucidní účinky, což představuje velký potenciál uplatnění této metody v oblasti sterilizace, bakteriální dekontaminace, v léčbě chronických ran, popálenin a dalších kožních onemocnění v humánní a veterinární medicíně. Testování účinku nízkoteplotního plazmatu v několika kazuistikách prokázalo jeho bezpečnost a podporu hojení chronických ran. V léčbě chronického zánětu zvukovodu u psích pacientů byl po aplikaci plazmatu zaznamenán ústup infekce a zprůchodnění zvukovodu. Významný výsledek představuje efekt nízkoteplotního plazmatu v indikaci chronické pododermatitidy u koní, kde byl efekt ve vyhojení kopyta bez další recidivy potvrzen u dvou případů. Další testování nízkoteplotního plazmatu ve veterinární medicíně by mělo potvrdit jeho efekt v již zmíněných indikacích a nalézt další vhodné oblasti uplatnění.


Non-thermal plasmas are generated from the flow of neutral gas in locally intense electric field, while the gas remains at ambient temperature and atmospheric pressure. Non-thermal plasmas have nonspecific bactericidal, fungicidal and virucidal effects, which offer considerable opportunities for their use in sterilization and bacterial decontamination, treatment of chronic wounds, burns and multiple skin pathologies in human and veterinary medicine. Treatment with non-thermal plasma has proven safe with beneficial effects on the healing of chronic wounds in small animals and horses. In the treatment of chronic otitis in a canine patient, plasma treatment reduced infection and improved clearance of the auditory canal. A significant result was found in the treatment of horse chronic pododermatitis, for which no further recurrences was confirmed in two cases. Further testing of non-thermal plasma in veterinary medicine should confirm its effect in the already examined indications, and help to find other suitable application areas.
