AnnotationThe conformations of organocyanide dianions and the competing supramolecular interactions have been found to be critical for the different structures of one-dimensional coordination polymers in the self-assembly of metal−organic macrocyclic complexes and organocyanide dianions. The flexible 1,3-dicyanamidobenzene dianions forms an aperiodic quadruple helical structure but only zigzag chains when water is present.
