Die Metapher von Kultur als Übersetzung zielt auf einen Prozess der Auseinandersetzung mit kulturellen Differenzen. Literarische Übersetzung stellt als Teil des kulturellen Übersetzuens ein Selbstreflexion dar, die Probleme der Fremdheit der anderen Kultur als Wahrnehmungsdefizit der eigenen Kultur verdeutlicht und somit gesellschafts-politisches Potenzial impliziert.
The metaphor of culture as translation is the process of negotiation of cultural differences. Literary translation represents a self-reflection within the frame of the cultural translation, it clarifies the problems of the otherness of a foreign culture as a perceptual deficit of one's own culture and thus implies socio-political potential.
