Vášnivé diskuse o povaze umění a možnostech transferu soudobých evropských vzorů, které vzrušovaly české výtvarníky a spisovatele v letech 1912–1914, ukončil razantně nástup 1. světové války. Almanach na rok 1914 proto zůstává singulárním pokusem představit souhrnně literární snahy tehdejší mladé generace. Ve stati o “Třech prózách” Josefa Čapka Jedličková oponuje tradičnímu výkladu příspěvků Almanachu zdůrazňujícímu jeho programové kvality a nabízí “čtení nečasové a neprogramní”, spočívající v alternativní perspektivě využívající podvojné, intermediální povahy Čapkova díla i vývoje autorské poetiky. Zapojení intermediálních kategorií do analýzy “Tří próz” dovoluje rozlišit ty vlastnosti textu, které jsou pouze výsledkem reflektování průlomových uměleckých metod, jež přinelsy futurismus a kubismus, od těch, které jsou skutečnými transformacemi původních mediálních postupů do jiné (verbální) reprezentace. Četné vlastnosti pojednávaného textu navíc nabízejí možnost vztáhnout je k jeho pozdějšímu dílu a ukázat tak zřetelnou kontinuitu jeho myšlení a pojetí umění zvláště.

The passionate debates about the nature of new art and the option of conveying contemporary European art models, which excited Czech artists and writers between 1912–1914, ended abruptly with the beginning of the WWI. Therefore, Almanach na rok 1914 represents a singular attempt to present a comprehensive survey of literary efforts of the young generation of that time. In her essay on “Tři prózy” (Three Pieces of Fiction) by Josef Čapek, Jedličková opposes the traditional scholarly inquiry into the contributions of the Almanach which emphasizes its programmatic qualities by suggesting “reading beyond program and period”, i. e. an alternative view based on the double, intermedia nature of Čapek´s work the development of his authorial poetics. Employing categories of intermediality in analyzing “Three Pieces of Fiction” allows to discern traits of these texts that merely reflect the groundbreaking methods introduced by futurist and cubist painting from those involving genuine transformation of media characteristics in a different (verbal) media representation. Moreover, several features of Čapek’s text suggest the option to relate them to his later work as well, allowing to display a distinctive continuity of his thinking (and concept of art in particular).
