AnnotationStudy deals with slot water jet (continuous and synthetic) impinging onto heated cylinder. Slot width, cylinder diameter, dimensionless cylinder-to-nozzle spacing were 0.36 mm, 1.2 mm, 5–21, respectively. Reynolds number ranged 35–170. LIF visualization revealed separation on windward cylinder side for both jets. Flow around leeward cylinder side is absent. It is attributed to effects of mini scale and low Re. Heat transfer experiments were validated in natural convection regime. Enhancement of average Nusselt numbers (4.2–6.2 times) by means of synthetic jets was quantified. Correlation for average Nu was proposed for both jets.
