In vivo diffusion tensor imaging (DTI) of rat thoracic spinal cord was performed on five healthy rats. Axial diffusion images were obtained using a standard spin echo diffusion weighted sequence. The fractional anisotropy (FA), longitudinal (LD) and transverse (TD) diffusivities and the mean diffusivity were estimated. Differences in these parameters between white and grey matter were in accord with theory and in the range reported in literature.
