Streptavidin in its tetrameric form is widely used in bio-analytical applications, mainly due to its high affinity for biotin. By using methods of genetic engineering the expression plasmid vectors for intracellular expression of sequence of natural streptavidin core fused to mCherry have been constructed and verified. The fusion can be used for bio-analytical purpose, or for basic characterization of the biotinylated antibodies, which specifically recognize the surface receptors on dendritic cells.
