This historical note is to commemorate an extreme natural disaster, which affected Central Europe in August 2002 (not long ago already ten years had passed since this catastrophe). As to the measured record precipitation amounts, this extreme is compared with similar extreme cases occurring in Central Europe (here the region of A, CZ, D, H, PL, SK) in the past and with catastrophic precipitation, which affected the UK territory in November 2009. A comparison is made of precipitation records for standard daily amounts, for any 24-hour period amounts, as well as for the 2-, 3- and 4 consecutive days amounts.
