During the ramp-up and ramp-down phases of discharges in the ITER tokamak, the plasma will be limited on the berylium tiles of the first wall. Scaling laws for the value of parallel power flux at the last closed flux surface, and its e-folding length in the scrape-off layer are needed in order to optimize tile shaping. Dedicated experiments were carried out in Tore Supra in order to measure scrape-off layer parameters in a controlled series of discharges and a scaling law for ITER is presented.
