The paper describes the results of an experimental measurement and flow visualisation of model coarse-grained fully stratified particle-water mixture focussed on study of the carrier liquid velocity field and local velocities of conveyed particles. Glass balls of diameter 6 mm were conveyed by water in a horizontal smooth pipe of inner diameter 40 mm. The measurements were performed in the smooth pipe and the pipe with rough stationary bed created by two layers of spherical particles of the same size as the conveyed particles. Particle movement along the pipe bottom was studied and effect of bed load on deformation of liquid velocity field was evaluated. It was conducted that in the flow pattern with stationary bed the maximum liquid velocity is significantly shifted from pipe centre to a higher position.
