Tetrakis(4-aminophenyl)porphyrin (TPP-NH2) was prepared by condensation reaction of pnitrobenzaldehyde with pyrrole and subsequent reduction of the nitro derivative with SnCl2. In the next step, TPP-NH2 reacted with (3-isocyanatopropyl)triethoxysilane, yielding the corresponding tetrakis(triethoxysilyl) derivative. This compound was finally attached to silica gel.
