Príspevok prezentuje vzťahy EI a postojov jedincov k etnickým, náboženským, fyzickým a sociálnym odlišnostiam. Očakávame, pozitívnu asociáciu vyššej úrovne EI s tolerantnými a viac otvorenými postojmi a naopak jedinci s nižšou úrovňou porozumenia emócií budú vykazovať viac prejavov sociálneho dištancu.
In today’s world where it’s not uncommon to find multiple ethnicities, variability in religions and personalities, dealing with differences is a key requirement for forming a better quality of social relationships. Its level is influenced by emotional intelligence. These is so, because developing the capacity to understand our feelings and deal effectively with others, no matter how great the differences are, is a critical competence for reaching an overall success in our life. This paper presents the relationship of EI and attitudes of individuals towards ethnical, religious, physical and social differences. Our purpose was investigated with early adolescents by STEU scale and Scale of Social Differences. We expect positive association between higher level of EI and tolerant, open attitudes and vice-versa correlation of lower level of understanding of emotions with higher level of social distance
