Epithelial-mesenchymal transition (EMT) is involved in physiological processes ranging from embryonic development to tissue remodeling, regeneration, organ fibrosis, cancer progression and metastasis. In this study, we focus on the kinetics of expression of EMT markers and both transcription factors and miRNAs regulating the EMT process in the BPH-1 cell line and in tumorigenic clones derived from this cell line. To the best of our knowledge, this is the first detailed description of EMT regulation in a non-transformed, immortalized epithelial cell line of prostate origin.
