Zářením plazmatu generovaného ze zařízení WSP® byly aktivovány vodné suspenze oxidů titanu a wolframu a použity k fotochemické destrukci toxického a explozivního pikraminanu sodného. Je popsáno zařízení, umožňující zpracovat až 600 l/h jeho vodného roztoku a v jednom cyklu převést až 80% organického uhlíku na karbonáty.

Water-stabilised plasma generator WSP® can be used for the thermal decomposition of organic substances, for which the dwell time of about 5 ms in a 30,000 K plasma is sufficient. Besides such high temperature, the apparatus also generates highly intensive radiation, mainly in the UV range, as well as radiation with wavelengths of around 660 nm (Hα) and 490 nm (Hβ). The radiation in this spectral region enables the activation of not only photocatalysts based on TiO2 but also of other semi conductive oxides with narrower forbidden band, such as tungsten oxides. Their photoactivity was studied on a model decomposition of organic substances in water suspensions. Also, initial experiments with the disposal of industrial toxic and explosive waste compounds, such as sodium picramate, were performed.
