Ascarophisnema gen. n. is maily characterized by the cephalic structure (especially that of pseudolabia) and the presence of trident-like deirids, whereas Metabronemoides gen. n. by the unique cephalic structure (presence of one dorsal and one ventral labia and four large dorsolateral and ventrolateral labia, absence of sublabia). Rhabdochona gymnocranius (considered a species inquirenda) is provisionally transferred to the former genus as Ascarophisnema gymnocranius (Yamaguti, 1935) comb. n.
