Přechod k tržní ekonomice měl zjevně pozitivní vliv na ekonomické podmínky a chování domácností. Rozvoj konzumní kultury s jejími agenturami a klienty je situován do kontextu širší diskuse o masovém spotřebitelství. V závěru jsou shrnuty kladné i záporné rysy bující spotřeby. Description in English This chapter gathers a variety of evidence demonstrating the development of household consumption in the Czech Republic during the post-1989 period. The transition to a market economy had likely positive impact on the economic conditions and behaviour of households. The development of consumer culture with its agencies and clients is placed in the context of broader debates about of mass consumerism. Both the positive and negative features of booming consumption are summarised in the conclusion.
