The paper deals with modelling and experimental investigation of the mono-disperse and binary particle-liquid mixtures sedimentation in a vertical sedimentation vessel. The particle Reynolds number varies from 1 to 140. To measure the fall velocity the radiometric tracer method was used. The study confirms that for the binary mixture consisting of spherical particles of very different sizes the fall velocity of the bigger particles increase in comparison with the mono-disperse suspension with the same total concentration. A slight decrease of the fall velocity of the smaller particles was observed for higher proportion of larger particles. Addition of larger particles causes decreasing of the fall velocity of binary mixture, addition of fine particles causes increasing of the fall velocity. The effect grows with increase of difference in particle size.
