AnnotationThe manipulation of glutamate neurotransmission could represent a potential strategy for the pharmacotherapy of schizophrenic symptoms. In our study we evaluated the effect of agonists and allosteric modulators of mGluR2/3 and mGluR5 on performance in a cognitive task in animal model of schizophrenia like behavior. The results show that application of the mGlu2/3 receptor agonist had no effect on cognitive impairment. However, the mGlu5 receptor agonists ameliorated cognitive impairment without affecting locomotion
