The branched polymers exhibit weaker damping than the linear polymers that are subject to theory of Doi and Edwards (DE). The pom-pom polymers exhibit weaker damping for small strains, and collapse to DE damping for higher strains with branching point withdrawal. For branched polymers (comb or commercial LDPEs) branching points are distributed randomly along backbone, and their damping shows no sudden branching point withdrawal and remains weaker than that of the linear polymers. In present research there is presented a possible explanation of weaker damping of branched polymers with assumption that branching points are withdrawn smoothly and retraction of backbone after step deformation is in accordance with DE mechanics.
