AnnotationMetakaolinite-based geopolymer composites containing about 10 wt% of TiO2 powders were prepared directly by a mixing of metakaolinite, sodium silicate solution (water glass) and TiO2 powders. Prepared materials in form of layers on steel plates were investigated by XRD, SEM, BET and BJH (Barrett-Joiner-Halenda) methods. In all cases the TiO2 powders are to different extents encapsulated in the geopolymer matrix. All studied materials, including the initial geopolymer matrix free of synthetic TiO2, exhibited photocatalytic properties.
