A dilatation element is inductively heated by alternating current, which leads to its stretching. After reaching the dilatation required, the Joule losses in the system must be reduced on the value corresponding to the total loss of heat. The task represents a triply coupled problem combined with optimization of the time evolution of the field current whose amplitude must vary in time appropriately. The methodology is illustrated by a typical example.
