This comparison includes the conventional circulation, circulation based on the so-called residual vorticity, and the integral of the local swirling-strength parameter. The outcome of these models naturally differs, even for an ideally axisymmetric vortex. It is emphasized that the vortex region, vortex boundary and, consequently, the (integral) vortex strength are directly dependent on the choice of the concept of local vortex intensity. Shear-biased vortex-strength models are clearly distinguished. Workplace Institute of Hydrodynamics Contact Soňa Hnilicová, hnilicova@ih.cas.cz, Tel.: 233 109 003 Year of Publishing 2010
