MYORES brings together European experts from different horizons of muscle biology. The originality of the Network resides in the multi-organismic experimental approach. The common and longstanding goal of MYORES researchers is a better understanding of the molecular mechanisms underlying muscle pathologies leading to the conception of new treatments. MYORES is funded by the European Commission for five years (up to 2010) at the level of 12 millions euros. The 2nd Congress of Myores was organized in Praguer by Institute of Physiology AS CR

Účastníci projektu MYORES se informovali o výsledcích týkajících se vývoje svalu od myogenní indukce, morfogeneze po konečnou diferenciaci různých typů svalových vláken, o izolaci nových molekul a o testování jejich významu v různých aspektech funkce a regenerace svalu. Důležitým úkolem MYORES je i organizace kongresů a workshopů a jako místo konání 2. kongresu MYORES byla vybrána Praha a organizací pověřen FGÚ AV ČR
