Aluminum is a highly cytotoxic metal to plants, but the molecular base and the primary target of Al toxicity are still unknown. We have shown that Al3+ reduced the formation of phosphatidic acid in vivo, inhibited activity of PIP2-dependent phospholipase D in vitro and that phosphatidic acid production is modified by microtubule dynamics.

Hlinité ionty (Al3+) jsou toxické pro rostliny. Molekulární mechanismus a prvotní cíl působení Al3+ je dosud nejasný. Ukázali jsme ,že Al3+ snižují produkci kyseliny fosfatidové a snižují aktivitu PIP2-dependentní fosfolipasy D. A dále , že produkce kyseliny fosfatidové je ovlivněna dynamikou mikrotubulů.
