Monografie analyzuje vývoj české sociologie náboženství a příbuzných oborů od počátků akademického studia náboženství na konci 19. století do současnosti. Zvláštní pozornost je věnována historickým, sociopolitickým a intelektuálním kontextům, v nichž česká verze disciplíny fungovala či musela fungovat. Kniha zároveň mapuje otázku intelektuálních přístupů k náboženství v celém 20. století.

The monograph analyses development of Czech sociology of religion and related fields from beginning of academic study of religion at the end of the 19th century to the present. It pays special attention to historical, socio-political and intellectual contexts in which Czech version of the discipline (has to) functionned. At the same time, the volume covers the issue of intelligentsia´s attitudes on religion throughout the 20th century.
