Recenze knihy současného německého historika. Vyzdvihuje její informovanost, přehlednost a pozornost, kterou věnuje vlivu alchymie na dobovou kulturu a zvláště literaturu. Kriticky je hodnocen přílišný časový rozpon pojetí středověké alchymie a nedostatečný důraz na její vrcholné období v 13. až 15. století.

A review of a book by a contemporary German historian. It stresses its sophistication and clarity, as well as the attention it pays to the influence of alchemy on the contemporary culture, above all literature. On the other hand, the review criticises the overly broad time span of the concept of mediaeval alchemy and insufficient stress on its high period in the 13th to 15th centuries.
